Who was Nasruddin?
Mulla Nasruddin Khoja is a great and beloved comic figure in Muslim tradition. He lived in the 13th century in Anatolia (now Turkey) and was very well known for his jokes, pranks and satirical stories. Over the centuries his fame spread through the Middle East and eventually the whole world. Playing the role of a fool, he in fact showed up the many absurdities and sillinesses in 'normal' life and behaviour.
