Tom McLaughlin
Author and Illustrator
Tom McLaughlin is an author illustrator from Devon. After graduating from Falmouth College of Art he worked from 10 years as a political cartoonist for The Western Morning News. Since going freelance he has been a animation designer for a number of TV shows, as well as an occasional columnist for The Guardian online.
He started in the world of children’s publishing by illustrating other people’s books before turning his hand to writing. He has written and illustrated for Bloomsbury, Puffin, Scholastic, OUP, Walker to name but a few. His books have been nominated for countless awards and have been translated into over 10 different languages. He lives in Exeter with his wife and children and can often be found staring out of a window with a cup of tea.

Simon Mole
Author
Simon Mole is an acclaimed children’s poet (and sleep deprived dad) who has shared stages with Michael Rosen, Kae Tempest and John Hegley. His first picture book Kites was published in 2019, followed by I Love My Bike in 2021, and I Love My Cat in 2022.
Simon is a National Poetry Day Ambassador, with over ten years’ experience using rap and poetry in community and education settings, including projects with Great Ormond Street Hospital and Arsenal Football Club.
The tutorial videos at his YouTube channel are used by hundreds of thousands of children and teachers across the world each year, and have been featured on BBC Bitesize.
Simon is also one half of kids comedy rap duo Mole & Gecko (you can probably guess which half).
