"A dramatic tale of a fox and a wolf caught in a storm, vividly captured in Read's bright collaged illustrations. This picture book is an exciting story of enemies-to-friends, told with evocative language for 5+ readers."
The Bookseller
"There is a lot of cuteness in picture books but this is definitely not saccharine: the raging, swirling water and fierce lightning strikes, perfectly depicted by Read in swirling greys, browns and blues, add a real sense of danger to the story. Eventually, the storm breaks and calm is restored. Here, friendship is about survival."

Teresa Heapy
Author
Hello! I write stories for children. I’ve written many pictures books, and my first novel, Will Wolfheart is about to be published. I’ve written many fiction and non-fiction educational books for children, too.
The best part of my job is making things up…following an idea and seeing where it leads me! I also really love going into schools, libraries and bookshops and meeting children.

Illustrator
Hello! My name is Kate Read and I am a children's book author and illustrator. I make my illustrations using hand painted and mono printed paper collage which I finish digitally.
My books, giclee prints and cards are available to buy in my online shop as well as some National Trust Properties and my very own brick and mortar shop - One Fox
I mainly illustrate children's picture books but I also work on private commissions, editorial projects, brand design, boardgames and lots of greetings cards. I like variety in my work and I'm always happy to discuss your ideas.
